The location of many ports has been bandied around, but you’ve still got the same tried and true boxy design combined with durable magnesium alloy and plastic construction covered in black rubberised paint. Lenovo continues to provide a full-size keyboard on a 12-inch ultraportable notebook, but that bigger computer keyboard comes at the cost of space for the palm rests. Although typing is quite comfortable on the Lenovo thinkpad X220 laptop sale, your wrists do not have ample space with your palms in the conventional typing position.

Irrespective of the compact layout, the X220 proceeds Lenovo’s trend of “business rugged” laptops. This ThinkPad can be Milspec analysed (physical shock, thermal shock, altitude, dust, vibration, humidity, heat and cold) for proven durability. Translation: cellular professionals do not have to take care of this laptop with kid gloves. Toss the X220 in your auto or let the flight attendant dip it into an overhead compartment. The X220 will take the beating and keep functioning.
Lenovo Thinkpad X220 Laptop 12.5-inch display
The vast majority of Lenovo’s company clients order their laptops pre-configured precisely the way they want them. However, Lenovo nevertheless makes it pretty easy for all those customers who wish to upgrade the X220 by themselves. So far as RAM is concerned, there are two slots situated under the primary access plate on the bottom of the notebook. Our review unit came with a single 4GB memory module installed, so it would be rather simple to update to the highest 8GB memory capacity by installing a second.

The ThinkPad X220 has what could only be called the strongest port design we have observed on almost any current-generation 12-inch notebook. You get two standard USB 2.0 interfaces and your selection of one “constantly on” USB 2.0 port (for charging USB devices when the laptop is powered off) or a single USB 3.0 interface for high-speed data transfers. The X220 also comes with a VGA port,X220 proceeds  Screen Port connection, Gigabit Ethernet plus an SDHC card reader. Oh, and the engineers in Lenovo also were able to squeeze in a full-size 54mm ExpressCard slot for VGA port and accessories expansion. If this is not enough ports, there’s a docking station link on the bottom of the notebook so you can turn this 12-inch laptop into a desktop replacement.

  • A Supervisor Password provides a higher level of security than the POP. The Supervisor Password protects the system functions from being used by unauthorized users, and protects the hardware configuration from unauthorized modification. The Supervisor Password prompt appears:
    • When the BIOS setup screen is accessed.
  • A Hard Drive Password (HDP) protects hard drive data from unauthorized users. Once HDP is set, data on the hard drive cannot be accessed without the correct HDP. Because the HDP is stored in the hard drive, the data remains protected even if the hard drive is removed to another system. The HDP password prompt appears:
    • Each time the system is turned on.

A great little laptop for people who can’t carry a full sized one around with them. the only thing I don’t like is the lack of trackpad, but I guess that’s down to personal preferences.

We have had some problems with hard drive (SSD) reliability, but we’re putting that down to them being early generation SSD’s and a possible problem with Bitlocker.

Pretty rugged and reliable though, other than that.

We have some in the field and the users love them. Can’t stand the 768 vertical resolution but that’s just my opinion (newer laptops in this size family cover that..)

around half a year ago I’ve replaced SONY VAIO VGN-SR59VG by Lenovo X220 4291-2WG – so happy with it!
Excellent machine! Special applauses for keyboard.
Do mind SSD if you really want to enjoy working with X220

We have a ton of the T520’s and T420’s, so we thought we’d buy into a few X220s for our executives. All three of them that we bought for our CEO, COO, and Director of Marketing had their motherboards fail. I couldn’t believe it and had to eat some serious crow after getting them away from their Sony notebooks. The only positive was that Lenovo kindly swapped all of them out for T520s. The model we had was 42872WU. I would HIGHLY recommend staying away from this one.

I have this machine and it’s one of the best laptops I’ve used. I purchased mines with the docking station and I DID NOT get the extra battery. I upgraded the RAM and got the 128GB SSD SATA III and I tell ya, it’s been an amazing machine. I end up pulling this instead of my desktop and tablets.
So far, I have not yet to find something that’ll replace this. With the right speed, PERFECT keyboard, love the eraserhead, Matte IPS screen and lightweight, can’t match it at this point. Construction: sturdy, very little keyboard flex. Left side of the palm rest depresses a little, but overall very well made.

Keyboard: one of the best I’ve used on a laptop, very comfortable.

Screen: one of the few IPS panel monitors on a laptop. The 1366×768 resolution is lower than I’d like, but the brightness and color are great.

Battery life: with the 9 cell battery, I get 8-9hrs of actual usage with the screen brightness set on 13/15. I’ve never run out of charge in the middle of the day so far.

Power: with an i7 CPU, 8gb of RAM and a SSD, this thing flies. The only downside is the integrated video. While vastly improved, the Intel HD 3000 is still not powerful enough for video work, but is more than enough for normal office tasks and watching 1080p video.

Price: all that cost me about $1200. I installed the RAM and SSD myself using aftermarket parts, but the stock configuration from Lenovo using 320gb HDD and 4gb of RAM only cost ~$900 after shipping.
