Bought one to use for a domain controller and it’s easy to configure setup and use. I’ll continue to purchase ProLiant servers going forward and highly recommend this product.

Fast VM boxes. Affordable, easy to configure, and good support from HP. Price makes them a good buy for medium size businesses.

We have two of these in production running VMWare ESXi 5.1, I have nothing but good experience with them. I installed a couple more outside of my firm in the past and they’ve all continued to run well and have not had any major hardware faults (knock on wood).

Expensive and worth every penny. The options such as the hot swap bay & redundant PSUs make it a very attractive server. I loaded mine up with a lot of the extras and it’s been rock solid and very fast. About the only thing holding this thing back is the fact that Windows is installed on it.

Been in production for about 2 weeks. Seems like a slick machine for the price point. We aren’t pushing it’s limits, but honestly I could beat the price for what I got.

Powerful and affordable server. Runs VMware ESXi 5.0 like a champ. Only minor flaw is having to remove a case fan to add memory.

A server very interesting, but in my opinion it is lacking in realçao the cost because the value is other servers with greater capacity and processamanto Upgade of memory and hard, very heavy and clumsy could invent outors HP servers with a size less

    Love them and hate them!

    Have 2 gripes with them:
–Out of the box they are far too picky over power. The slightest glitch and they shutdown (even on some “pure sinewave” UPS.
–Drive sleds. I don’t want their drives (why pay more?). Have to buy sleds from a 3rd party if I want to install drives.

They are solid, expandable…. Love these other than those two things.

One of the best servers I’ve ever used, Support for 2 processors, up to 40gbs, RAID 5 from factory with SAS 146Gb 10K RPM. Support for 2 Power Supply
It’s really quite a good server.

Overall not a bad server (other than the noise) for the price but you can see where they are doing the cost cutting. I’ve used HP servers for years and it’s fairly easy to see HP isn’t the engineering company it used to be. In particular the following items caught my attention:
-The bezel hides the all-important hard drive and server LEDs. HP went to the trouble to make it easy to remove the bezel, however, the metal beneath is silver. A small point but for $5K they should have added little black paint.
-Noisy, much more than my Dells.
-Lots of cheap, plastic air baffles that have to be removed to install RAM.
-Assembly attention to detail seems to be diminished these days. Battery backup was missing a clip which took a few weeks for tech support to resolve. Also a number of the cables were fairly tight and would be easy to pull out by accident.

Update: Since going into production I’ve had one drive fail (replaced w/o issue) and more importantly the motherboard died. Support from HP is now off-shore and no where near as effective as Dell’s. As much as I hate to admit it HP’s downward trend is still on track.

We have one of these running SBS 2008. It runs very well, we upped the memory (of course) and used the internal Raid for Raid1 redundancy and we are not noticing any lag. For any small business starting up this will be fine and then can buy more redundancy, raid controllers/dual power etc, when money permits, again a good machine

This is a great price for this level of performance. You really don’t find any servers with cache enabled raid controllers at this price point. Don’t get me wrong, it’s an entry level system, but it’s still quite good.
