Might be a decent server if you are installing Windows 2012 only, but for anything else its a complete nightmare. The low-end RAID card only supports UEFI OS’es (and even with that its just software RAID through drivers). The server’s BIOS is just loaded with bloat (checking in with HP’s cloud services, etc) and even the “Intelligent” deployment tools freezes up on the first few tries. When trying to update that, the updater also froze. When trying to get help through the sea of HP documents and hoops of links, I also learned that HP’s new policy is you need a support contract to download any firmware update for servers out of warranty. I’ve supported countless HP Proliant servers in the past 10 years but this Gen9 release and new download policy has me looking at Dell. Sorry HP, shot yourselves in the foot here.
